Beng Mealea is a temple which has style of the Angkor Vat. It’s situated 40 kilometers at the east of the major temple group at Angkor, Cambodia. It’s laid on the ancient way to Preah Khan Kompong Svay. Beng Mealea was built in the late 11th century. Unfortunately, the temple has been forgotten and till now, it’s hardly visited. The galleries, pools, libraries and sanctuaries have been covered by trees and creepers, hiding variety of mystery to discover. The scene here is nearly unchanged since the French damaged it in the mid 19th century. The grey-black stonesand green algaecovered the building, became a perfect disguise. The old trees took the roots like a giant octopus’s tentacles.
To visit Beng Mealea, visitors can drive through the countryside and see the rice fields along the Kulen Mountain range.
